Webinar 1: Investigating surrogate measures of ICP in NPH
Speaker: Jefferson Chen, MD, Ph.D., University of California Irvine
Description: Dr. Jefferson Chen studies the molecular mechanisms and biochemical underpinnings of the flow of fluids through the brain. His talk will focus on the use of waveform and surrogate measures of intracranial pressure (ICP) in treating patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

Webinar 2: Utility of PCR and chromosomes for the diagnosis and pre-screening of hydrocephalus marker genes
Speaker: Joon “Simon” Shim, PhD, Marshall University
Description: In order to develop a new diagnostic and drug-screening tool, Dr. Simon Shim’s lab has recently adopted the PCR and genome data viewer to compare human specimens and mammalian genes associated with hydrocephalus. In this Webinar, focusing on mRNA markers, Dr. Shim will demonstrate examples of how to potentially differentiate normal pressure hydrocephalus from Alzheimer’s disease. He will then demonstrate how two previously known factors associated with high mutation rates in human genomes can be applied to a genetic marker or drug target consistent or inconsistent across mouse, rat, and human species.

Webinar 3: Use of gait analysis in the diagnosis of Normal pressure hydrocephalus: new methods and pitfalls
Speaker: Mats Tullberg, MD, PhD, University of Gothenburg
Description: In this webinar, Dr. Mats Tullberg will give an overview of current diagnostic methods and their limitations and describe the typical clinical syndrome of NPH with a focus on gait and balance and how careful evaluation of these symptoms and signs can assist in the diagnostic work-up of NPH. He will then present his research using a new method for 3D gait analysis to improve diagnostics in NPH and discuss important and interesting pitfalls.
