What is the FLOW Research Symposium? It is a first-of-its-kind symposium at the National Conference on Hydrocephalus, HA CONNECT, featuring research presentations on hydrocephalus treatment, devices, diagnosis, neuropsychology, and basic science. These topics are based on patient-driven research priorities, allowing researchers to address the most pressing needs for those living with hydrocephalus.

FLOW Research Symposium Events:

  • 2 FLOW Research Symposium Sessions
  • FLOW Poster Session
  • Trainee Social Hour- All trainees are welcome including medical, graduate, and undergraduate students, residents, and fellows.
  • Engineering Social Hour- Open to everyone working in engineering and devices for hydrocephalus

Share and Discover the Latest Research
Researchers based at an accredited non-profit research or academic institution worldwide are invited to submit abstracts to present during FLOW Research Symposium sessions. There are opportunities for flash presentations and poster presentations. Abstract submissions are now closed.

Explore the Latest Advances in Hydrocephalus Research
Learn from leading investigators as they present breakthroughs across basic, translational, and clinical research, and explore how incorporating the patient perspective can deepen understanding and improve outcomes.

Connect and Collaborate
Build relationships through exclusive networking events, including the engineering and trainee socials, designed to connect researchers, clinicians, and innovators to spark collaboration.

The FLOW Research Symposium is a component of HA CONNECT

HA CONNECT, the Hydrocephalus Association’s 19th National Conference on Hydrocephalus, is the largest conference in the world dedicated to hydrocephalus research, education, innovation, and community collaboration. Bringing together leading scientists, engineers, clinicians, industry partners, and people living with hydrocephalus, this biennial event serves as a unique forum to exchange ideas, present emerging research, and accelerate progress toward improved outcomes and cures.

The FLOW Research Symposium is part of the greater national conference on hydrocephalus, HA CONNECT. FLOW is exclusive to researchers.

Researcher registration will give you access to both FLOW and HA CONNECT.

See the recommended program for researchers here.

See the FLOW Program and Abstract Booklet here.

Researchers attending HA CONNECT will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage with the Hydrocephalus Community
Gain valuable insights by interacting directly with individuals and families living with hydrocephalus — an experience that deepens understanding and reinforces the real-world impact of your research.

  • Hear Medical and Research Talks Relevant to Hydrocephalus Patients
Hear talks from expert clinicians that treat hydrocephalus at all ages from many different angles. Experts include neuropsychologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuroscientists.
