Research focus:

We are focused on developing the ability to measure biomarkers responsible for the initial injury mechanisms of hydrocephalus to advance our understanding in the pathologic sequence of events that leads to the neurological injury in hydrocephalus. Furthermore, understanding this sequence of events leading to the development of hydrocephalus will provide: greater predictability of hydrocephalic patient outcomes; pathways compromised; and potential therapeutic targets for the treatment of hydrocephalus.
Currently, we are using a novel progressive hydrocephalus induction model to provide the first controlled estimate of the earliest indication of injury to cells of the subventricular zone, and identifies the biomarkers associated with this injury.
