I study post-infectious hydrocephalus (PIH) as a PhD Candidate at the University of Connecticut. I have been generating a mouse model of PIH to assess the ventricular-subventricular zone, the stem cell niche lining the ventricles. Using this mouse model, I have been assessing the stem cell niche’s repair mechanisms and determining its neurogenerative ability following hydrocephalus onset. I plan to determine how age of onset of hydrocephalus effects this productivity through birth dating, MRI volumetric assessments, confocal microscopy, and ultimately the involvement of 10x Genomics.
