Research focus:
Our research focuses on a family of transcription factors named the Nuclear Factor One (NFI) group. These proteins regulate gene transcription in the brain, and when mutated in mice culminate in severe hydrocephalus. Importantly, aberrant NFI expression in humans is also linked to disorders such as Sotos syndrome. As such, our research is aimed at understanding how NFI proteins regulate development of the ventricular system, and how mutations to these factors gives rise to hydrocephalus.
