Research focus:
Our research in the Conover Lab examines fetal-onset hydrocephalus in the lateral ventricular system of the developing brain. Our research is unique in that we combine cellular analysis of the ependymal cell lining and the sub-ventricular zone stem cell niche with large scale MRI structural analysis to generate 4D (space and time) models of hydrocephalic development. Overall, this research has broad implications on our understanding of developmental biology and hydrocephalus progression and can provide the foundation for future research in developing effective etiology-based treatments of hydrocephalus.
