Research focus:

I am a basic researcher interested in studing the participation of aquaporins in hydrocephalus associated to hypoxia and aging: pathophysiology, biomarkers and therapeutic strategies.
AQPs are expressed in choroid plexus (CP) and ependymal tissue (ET), and there they participate in the production of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). AQPs may therefore contribute to the pathophysiology of hydrocephalus (HC). Furthermore, the finding that expression of brain AQPs was up-regulated by hypoxia (Hy) let us to propose that this condition may favor developing of HC.
